School’s out for…. Winter?

You know…. being December seventeenth I would expect my neighborhood pond to look like this… but in fact it is quite the opposite this year no snow, no rain, just abysmal cold temperatures. What happened to winter??? I think their have been states five hundred miles south of us who have had more snow then us and we even have lake effect which hasn’t done anything this season.

Ranting aside, School is over (for now), Christmas is on the way, and instead of getting caught up in all of the holiday nonsense, I am spending my break working on 40k models! I have only been out of school for less then a week and I have been on a non stop building spree, I have build/converted an entire imperial guard battle force, scratch built eight attack bikes for my White Scars army, and build and began converting four chaos vehicles. I still have four more weeks of break to go!

So while you are waiting for pictures of these awesome conversions, I wanted to let you all know I haven’t stopped, I just need to get my camera working again…

Tyranids!!!

Here are some of the pictures taken from Gamesworkshop website about the upcoming Tyranid invasion thats due to hit in January. Though I personally am not a fan of Tyranids…. the Trygon and the Mawloc are pretty amazing.

I hope you all enjoy the inevitable tide of destruction this new codex will release!

Here is a brief description of the models as well:

(picture #1) Mawlocs are huge worm-like creatures that can appear amidst the enemy ready to sow panic and destruction

(picture #2) The Trygon is a fearsome close combat monster cable of firing bolts of searing bio-energy

(picture #3) A Pyrovore’s maw drips with corrosive acids that are powerful enough to reduce armour, flesh and bone to a gooey, smouldering mucous. When confronted by a foe the Pyrovore launches forth an incandescent fireball from its dorsal bio-weapon that reduces its victim to a pile of burning ash.

(picture #4) The Hive Guard are charged with protecting Tyranid structures and are capable of unleashing salvo after salvo of intense firepower. Essentially gun-beasts, they are heavily armoured and have a body designed to be a stable firing platform for the massive impaler cannon bonded to their forelimbs. Physically linked to the shard-beasts that comprise the ammunition to their cannons, Hive guard can target enemies with unerring accuracy – even those who they cannot see.

Besides releasing these completely new units, Games Workshop is releasing new plastic ravenors, and gargoyles along with recuts of the gaunt and hormagaunt boxes. There is plenty to new stuff to look into if you are a Tyranid fan!

Legion of the Damned Incoming!!!

I just saw on the Games Workshop website that they are finally releasing the much anticipated Legion of the Damned models in January. I am definitely picking up a unit of these to add to my White Scars army in larger games!

I hope you all enjoy these as much as I do!

Announcements for December

Hello all!

So as this semester of college is wrapping up its time to get back into the swing of things on the hobbying side of life. I have dedicated the whole month of December to working on two projects, my White Scars and a commission for an entire Nurgle Chaos army.

The White Scars will primary consist of painting what remains in the army, working on display boards, and working on objective markers. My goal is to make this army ready for upcoming tournaments where I can bring the wrath of the Mongols…. I mean White Scars onto the battle field.

As far as the Nurgle army is concerned, it is going to be a long term project which is going to involve building an army from the ground up and painting it for a fellow gamer. So far I promise their will be zombies, skeletons, and more conversions then you can shake a stick at in this army. As of right now I am working on customizing all of the vehicles for his list, and they are definitely bastions of decay and disease!

Updates on these projects will ensue shortly!

Besides working on warhammer 40k, I recently found out the Games Workshop has announced their 2010-2011 tournament schedule So this will finally give me some motivation to make significant progress on my tournament armies and get them ready for the new season.

Along with preparing my armies by fixing all of the breaks (especially flying bases for my tau), correcting the color schemes, and building those last few models to make the list work perfectly, I also will need to practice a lot more then I have been. So because of this, I plan on taking plenty of pictures of my gaming experiences over the course of this time and battle reports will ensue.

The next few weeks during the holiday season are shaping up to be quite exciting and I am glad I get the opportunity to share it with everyone!

Catachan Commission Part 2

Here is the second part of the Catachan commission I was asked to do. He requested a Command Squad armed with 4 plasma guns and an officer with a power ax and a plasma pistol in carapace armor.

So off the bat I gave each of the guardsmen unique plasma guns to show the differences in the technology and to make them more individualized. Also, compared with the other squad, this squad isn’t river crossing, they are on high ground observing the battle field. I also made the models by mashing together the Cadian and Catachan kits along with various other parts.

They aren’t quite finished, as I am looking for some feedback before they go out so any and all comments are greatly appreciated!

Finshed White Scars Bike Squad

Along with the Chaplain, I have been working on a squad of white scars bikers. Also like to the Chaplain, I missed a few spots…. But Alas, they are finished and are ready for the table top!

Finished White Scars Chaplain

Here are a few shots of my recently finished chaplain for my White Scars army.

After taking the pictures I have to go back and fix a few minor details, but for the most part he is finished. I think he looks pretty slick and ready to reap the souls of all who cross the Khan!

Custom White Scars Dice

Hey All!

I just wanted to show off the custom dice I just got in the mail. I figure when I get my whole White Scars army done, they’ll have some pretty sweet dice to back them up and add to the appeal of the army.

If you are interested in having your own custom dice made, be sure to check out: http://chessex.com/ and they’ll be able to make custom dice for you at a reasonable price and they ship them fast. After I paid I got my dice in 3 days. I look forward to getting more dice made from them in the future to match some of my other armies!

I hope you enjoy!

Catachan Commission part 1

Here is some Commission work I have been doing for another customer. He wanted a Catachan veteran squad to compliment is current army. I built this particular unit to appear as if they are crossing a river/swamp and because of this I officially nicknamed them the “swamp rats”.

I also have a guard command squad which is in the final stages of completion. So once it is finished, I will post up part 2 of this project.

Grey Knight Forgeworld Drednought

So in an effort to further expand my Grey Knights army, here is the latest addition to that army. I love this torso and it is nice to see it finally mounted on a pair of dreadnought legs!
